Summerfest brings people from all over Lewis County together for the area's largest Independence Day celebration, a day chock-full of fun for the entire family.
Events include the annual I Ran From the Cops run/walk, free pancake breakfast at Fort Borst Park, demolition derby at the Fairgrounds, and more. Hay rides, tours of the Borst Home historical site, historical military displays and much more. Activities for the entire family at Borst begin at 10 a.m.
The annual Summerfest Parade gets underway downtown at 4 p.m. This year, Summerfest Parade celebrates Centralia's own George Washington, an African-American man who traveled west to escape discrimination and ended up founding the town in the late 1800s. Centralia remains the largest city founded by an African-American in the United States. "Happy Birthday to Our George Washington," the parade, will bring dozens of floats down Centralia College Boulevard and up Tower Avenue in Centralia's historic commercial district.
