Tour scenic western Lewis County from the seat of a bicycle with this event tailored for families on two wheels in the third annual Ride the Willapa, coming June 23-24, 2018!
Ride the Willapa 2018 will bring riders a total of 34 miles in two days with an overnight campout sandwiched between those two days of riding. The 2018 route will take folks from Chehalis to Rainbow Falls State Park and back, and there might even be a longer route for people who want to log some extra miles!
Experience the beauty of the forests, rivers and farmland of quiet rural west Lewis County from a trail that once served as a railroad that a century ago brought passengers and freight through the region. This event is geared for the whole family, and you'll find the trail a peaceful and scenic journey that will leave you wanting to come back and explore it again!
Start from the Veterans Memorial Museum in Chehalis on Saturday morning and make your way along 17 miles of easy-going trail toward Rainbow Falls State Park. Join the overnight campout at the beautiful and peaceful state park, then head back into Chehalis the next morning. It's not just about the ride, either, as events such as the Tour De Farms will give you a chance to hop off the bike and explore several local farms on Saturday just six miles in.
This ride is fully supported with trail monitors along the route, medical support provided by the Lewis County Medical Reserve Corps, and food/water stops sponsored by local community organizations. Bring your luggage and a tent, and volunteers from UPS will truck it on over.
Ride at your own pace, and just enjoy a weekend in the beautiful forests and farmlands of west Lewis County!
Registration will open in early 2018. For detailed information on the ride and its history, visit the Ride the Willapa website.
