Add Some Color to the Season
Discover Springtime at DeGoede Bulb Farm

Nothing signals springtime quite like the tulip fields at DeGoede Bulb Farm & Gardens in Mossyrock, and with the weather being as picture-perfect as it has been to start April, there's no better time to experience the colors of spring than now!

Located just west of Mossyrock and just off U.S. Highway 12, the fields are a popular stop for people traveling through the area. And it's easy to see why.

Rows upon rows of tulips of just about all colors are open to the public to view and enjoy (but please don't pick them). Perhaps the most-photographed attraction along the U.S. 12 corridor, the tulip fields are a vibrant sign of the emergence from the colder months toward the summertime.

A recent morning during Spring Break that brought 70 degree temperatures with sunny skies turned out to be a perfect morning for families to stop along the road, wander through the rows of tulips and get some great shots.

DeGoede Bulb Farm & Gardens is one of Lewis County's cultural treasures. Not only are their tulips vibrantly visible from U.S. Highway 12, but the grounds on the north side of the highway contain a chapel and a Way of the Cross trail to the top of an adjacent hill. Those are open to the public during normal operating hours.

This is a landmark year for DeGoede's, as according to their website this is the 40th year of the DeGoede family's field production in Mossyrock. The farm encompasses about 300 acres, much of which is dedicated to growing tulips — but there's so much more that goes on there too.

DeGoede's is known just as much for their retail area, in which they offer a huge variety of plants, shrubs, flowers and more. Be sure when you stop in to check out their Spring Show Garden as well — a very picturesque park-like setting with a variety of flowers and trees that appeal to many. You can find their Spring Show Garden adjacent to the retail area — a sign from Mossyrock Road West points the way to the parking lot.

To get to DeGoede Bulb Farm & Gardens from the I-5 corridor or points west of Mossyrock, take Exit 68 to U.S. Highway 12. Follow the highway for about 20 to 25 minutes across Lake Mayfield and turn right on Birley Road, then turn left on Mossyrock Road West. You'll basically be right under the DeGoede's sign. From points east of Mossyrock, take U.S. 12 past town and take a left on Birley Road, then take another left on Mossyrock Road West.

DeGoede is just one stop in a very enjoyable Mossyrock excursion. You can make a road trip out of the deal and hit the hiking trails, boat launch or picnic tables at Ike Kinswa State Park, Mossyrock Park or Mayfield Lake Park. Stop in for a weekend at any of the several resorts around Lake Mayfield, or find some hiking trails not far away. The possibilities are endless!
