Calling all trout fishermen (and women!): Fort Borst Lake recently received a Christmas gift with its fourth stocking in just over a month.
This time, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife staff stocked the west Centralia lake with 1,500 rainbow trout from the Goldendale Hatchery. That took place shortly before Christmas.
It was the fourth time WDFW staff have stocked trout at the lake since late November, bringing the number of trout they've brought to the lake up to just more than 4,000. The latest bunch of fish to be transported to Fort Borst Lake was the biggest stocking since April, when WDFW dumped more than 2,300 fish into the lake.
Fort Borst Lake is a popular fishing spot for families in Lewis County. With its location within Fort Borst Park (read more about the park here) and its proximity to the Northwest Sports Hub and several area hotels and motels, the lake is an ideal draw for anyone visiting from out of town for the weekend too.
