Lewis County’s northernmost park offers prime access to the Skookumchuck River for fishing and other aquatic recreation.
Trails at the park offer a quiet respite into the outdoors just a short distance from downtown Centralia or Interstate 5. A pedestrian bridge over the Skookumchuck River is quite popular.
A covered shelter allows for picnicking and other gatherings. The park also offers a playground, horseshoe pits and a group picnic area that is available March 1 through Oct. 31. The park’s day-use area is open year-round.
You can find Schaefer Park along State Route 507 at the intersection with Big Hanaford Road, just north of Centralia city limits. To reserve the shelter at Schaefer Park, call Lewis County’s Facilities Department at 360-740-1192.
