More than 10,000 cyclists per year descend upon Lewis County for the annual Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic, which takes people on a two-wheeled 204-mile journey that passes through Centralia, Chehalis, Napavine, Winlock and Vader. This year’s event takes place July 15-16.
Centralia College serves as the official midpoint for the STP, with hundreds of people camping out in the Michael Smith Gymnasium or in tents that pack the campus grounds. Many others are hosted by families, churches, schools and more throughout Lewis County, as the welcome mat is rolled out to legions of folks on two wheels.
The bike ride infuses Lewis County with its largest number of visitors for any one given event, as not only the cyclists pass through and spend the night, but many also have family and friends that greet them at the midpoint or the point of their choosing.
Lewis County is proud to roll out the welcome mat for this fine event each year.
