Pe Ell is a small town located in west Lewis County, with a population of around 600 people. The town is situated in the Chehalis River Valley and surrounded by farmland, making it a quiet and peaceful place to live. Pe Ell is home to a trailhead for the Willapa Hills Trail, a former railroad that has been converted for use by pedestrians, cyclists and horseback riders. The community hosts a small yet vibrant Fourth of July parade and usually hosts its own fireworks at the Pe Ell School.
The town carries a significant Polish heritage, with many descendants of the earliest settlers to the region still calling Pe Ell home. The town was once the home to the only Polish National Catholic Church in Washington.
