Chehalis

About Chehalis

Beautifully situated in west Lewis County, Chehalis is a strong and vibrant community balancing a colorful history with an eye on the future.   It is situated along the Chehalis River, which was once a major transportation route for goods and people.

Today, the downtown area of Chehalis is known for its beautifully preserved historic buildings, which date back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Stroll the streets where these historic buildings are reborn with charming boutiques and inviting eateries.   The Westside District also offers a shopping experience with many name brand stores and restaurants.

The Chehalis-Centralia Railroad and Museum offers visitors a chance to take a ride on a historic steam train through the lush river valley and learn about the area’s railroad history. Tour the Lewis County Historical Museum with exhibits on the area’s logging and farming history and a model train layout that is a favorite with young train buffs.  Kids will also be delighted with an afternoon at the kiddy spray park, the newly remodeled Penny Playground and the popular Shaw Aquatic Center on those sunny summer days.
