Onalaska

About Onalaska

Perhaps the greatest natural feature of Onalaska is Carlisle Lake, once a mill pond that has now become a thriving home to fish and other aquatic life. A recently-completed trail is the perfect place to go for a short afternoon or evening walk in a quiet setting.

Right next to the lake, the only remnant of the town’s mill history towers over the community. The old mill’s smokestack has also been recently decorated with some street art courtesy of a local partnership with several graffiti artists seeking a venue for creative expression.

One of Lewis County’s newest celebrations, the Apple Harvest Festival, celebrates the advent of autumn each year. The festival includes a cider press and plenty of apple-baked goods to whet the appetite of any sweet tooth. The Onalaska Alliance, a group working to improve the quality of life in Onalaska, heads up this favorite celebration.
