Boistfort High School lays claim to being one of only two rural high schools in Lewis County in 1918, when it was built. It was the leading educational facility in the valley for years, serving several districts that had been consolidated.
At the time, Boistfort was known for its massive production of hops. The Klaber Hop Yards were the biggest hop producer in the state before its demise.
The school closed in the 1970s, and students today generally attend high school in Adna or other surrounding districts.
However, Boistfort boasts a notable graduate in Scott Crossfield, an Air Force test pilot who became the first person to break Mach 2 in flight. Crossfield is recognized for his achievements at the Chehalis-Centralia Airport’s terminal and observation park.
